Karen Karnes: The Inclusive Artist

Karen Karnes, a modernist artist, was inspired by the Bauhaus. She was the resident potter at Black Mountain College; an integral part of the Gate Hill Community; and a friend of John Cage, Merce Cunningham and M. C. Richards. Karnes had an inclusive, collaborative spirit evidenced by her curation of clay shows around the country where she introduced young potters to the public, making ceramics available to wider audiences.
